Optimizing Windows for Gaming

Set Power Plan settings to Performance

  1. Hit the Windows Key on your keyboard
  1. Search for “Choose a power plan”
  1. Select “High Performance” for the power plan

Enable Windows Game Mode

  1. Hit the Windows Key on your keyboard
  1. Press the Settings icon
  1. Hit the “Gaming” section on settings
  1. Enable “Game Mode”

Setting Priority for Specific Games

In this example, we focus on Fortnite, but the general process is the same for any other game.

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager. Click on More details.
  1. Right-click Fortnite. Click go to details.
  1. On FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe, FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping_EAC.exe, and FortniteLauncher.exe, set priority to High.
  1. In the confirmation window, click Change priority.
